World Honeybee Day began in 2009, quickly bringing awareness to the benefits and environmental needs of honeybees. There are estimated to be over 270,000 hives in the UK – equivalent to one for every 100 UK households.

Planting flowers rich in nectar, such as lavender and bluebells, and buying locally sourced honey can all help support these much-loved insects.
